The Disadvantages of Free VPN

Free VPNs can be an excellent choice for those who don’t want to spend money on an expensive service. However, they usually come with limitations and disadvantages. As opposed to premium VPNs they don’t make investments in their infrastructure, offer smaller servers and slower speeds. Free VPNs have the limitation of data per month which makes them unsuitable for streaming or torrenting.

Additionally, they do not always offer adequate encryption. They can allow hackers to get your personal data and spy on you online. This could be a risk particularly if criminals use your details to commit financial fraud or take your credit card numbers or drain your bank account.

Many free VPNs are supported by advertisements and bombard you with ads which slow down the speed of your internet. Ads do not just consume your data and Wi-Fi but can also weigh down your computer’s central processing unit (CPU) and operating system. In addition, some advertisements are infected by malware that makes your online experience more difficult and risky.

Another issue with free VPNs is that they usually offer your browsing data to third party. This compromises your privacy, since apps and websites begin to show you advertisements based on the private information you were trying keep private using a VPN. Paid VPNs aren’t affected by this. They rely on the money that you pay to pay for their services to create new features, enhance their infrastructure, and improve security.
